Court Temporarily Lifts Sales Ban on Galaxy Nexus

While Samsung's first appeal to lift ban from its Galaxy Tab 10.1 was rejected on Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh has temporarily lifted the sales ban order from the Galaxy Nexus smartphone, Bloomberg reports.

According to the Court, Samsung and Google can resume sales of Galaxy Nexus handset until Apple provides new information that Judge Koh has requested to be presented in front of the Court on July 12.

Meanwhile, Google has informed The Verge about an upcoming fix for the phone which will address Apple's claim of in fringing its universal search software patent.

Last week, Apple won a patent battle against its biggest rival Samsung and successfully banned Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the United States. This win was second in the row as the Cupertino tech giant just two days before banning Nexus, banned Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the United States. U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh granted a similar preliminary injunction banning sales of the Galaxy Nexus.

"Apple has made a clear showing that, in the absence of a preliminary injunction, it is likely to lose substantial market share in the smartphone market and to lose substantial downstream sales of future smartphone purchases and tag-along products," Judge Koh said in her ruling.

Koh's earlier judgment prevented the Korean electronics giant from selling Galaxy Nexus phone or any other device that was "no more than colorably different" in the US.

Galaxy Nexus was the first Samsung smartphone to come with Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and according to Apple, Galaxy Nexus is "the most credible competitor to the iPhone so far," and can affect the company's market share.
