One the biggest disappoints in the history of Fallout 4 gaming is the cancellation of PS4 mods. Much to the dismay and eager anticipation of fans, Bethesda revealed that no such thing will happen -- at least in the said console. While this can be very frustrating, the studio hopes to find an alternative (a workaround, in a sense). But really, will they be able to do so? Is it even possible?
Earlier this month, Fallout 4 PS4 mods were announced dead, as reported by PlayStationLifeStyle. As in, it's not coming. Although Sony didn't release an official statement as to why, Bethesda reasoned out that the tech giant simply doesn't want it (for security reason being one of them).
Although there are Fallout 4 fans who, in one way or another, find it better to understand the situation, there are those who're annoyed. In fact, some of them believe that the main reason behind this is Bethesda's exclusivity deal with Microsoft (owner of Xbox One consoles). Of course, Pete Hines was quick to react, suggesting that there's no single truth about it. That, as a matter of fact, they have since wanted the PS4 mods to arrive.
As previously reported here at iTech Post, Hines iterated that their team is looking for an alternative in hopes to bring Fallout 4 PS4 mods into reality. Nevertheless, as what they've always pointed out, it's almost close to impossible especially if Sony doesn't really allow it.
So, will Bethesda be able to bring Fallout 4 mods to PS4? Chances are, it's very unlikely. After all, their system (if they're able to come up with) need to co-exist with Sony's. And as explained by the latter, their main issue with the process is its possibility of giving public access to confident files of sorts.
Perhaps, Fallout 4 PS4 mods can happen if Bethesda and Sony agree to meet in the middle. For the specifics, these are unknown. But for whatever reason it'll be, it's really up to these parties. At the end of the day, the decision to do so heavily rely to them. Who knows, there's really something going on behind the scenes.
