Final Fantasy XV First Look: Magic Elements, Crafting Spells, and More about the FFXV World

Final Fantasy XV fans is set for release in November and fans are itching their hands to get a hold of it. Before the release, here's a first look from an insider who played the first few minutes of FFXV.

Final Fantasy XV is set in a fictional fantasy planet called Eos where Noctis, the main protagonist, his friends, and his family live. Eos, like Earth, is divided into different countries and regions. In that planet also lies the Astralsphere where players can gain Ability Points (AP) by going into combat or performing some actions. The more APs a player gains, new abilities will also be unlocked. Think of the Astralsphere the same way as the Crystarium in FFXIII.

If players want to get magic or gain the ability to cast spells, they can get it from crystals scattered around Eos. There are basically three types of FFXV crystals: fire, ice, and thunder. There is a fourth one called 'Wild" which can be acquired by crafting the other three crystals together.

When players chance upon these elements, they can draw magic from it; however, they cannot use it immediately but they have to craft it with other elements and place them in a flask. Crafting magic in FFXV is reminiscent of FFX's Riku's Mix Overdrive. After that, they can equip the character with whatever spell they have concocted. As for the flask, players need to find this item as well as they journey.

Final Fantasy XV spells can become much more stronger when players mix them with other items, such as potions and elixirs, when they start to cast it. Players can also make spells more powerful by combining them: the more number of spells combined, the more powerful it becomes.

Players will just have to remember that when they use their magic abilities, it will take some time before they can use it again. There is an indicator on the screen once the magic is ready to use again. What's good about FFXV is that players won't have a hard time remembering the magic or spells they used because it has a log and they can just scroll it down if they want to craft a similar spell.
