GoPro Karma Drone vs DJI Phantom 4: Karma Cheaper, More Portable But Phantom Has More Features

The GoPro Karma has finally been released last week, together with new GoPro cameras. It has been a while since fans started waiting for the GoPro Karma, and now that it's here, people's expectations are quite high for the product. It was previously promised that the Karma would be much more than just a drone. Thus, fans can't help but be curious whether or not the drone has addressed the existing problems of its competitor, the DJI Phantom 4.

GoPro Karma vs DJI Phantom 4 Portability, Versatility

GoPro Karma takes pride in its portability. In fact, it could be one of DJI Phantom 4's issues that GoPro was able to fix with the Karma. According to Forbes, the DJI Phantom 4 takes more space than the GoPro drone and it is generally too bulky for easy transport. Not only that, the GoPro Karma also comes with a backpack. The DJI Phantom 4 on the other hand, may require you to spend an extra $200 to get a similar accessory.

Furthermore, the GoPro Karma could be more versatile. It comes with the Karma Grip to make handheld use more comfortable. It can also be attached to the drone's head or to other GoPro accessories. DJI, on the other hand also has the same product called Osmo, but it is sold separately.

GoPro Karma vs DJI Phantom 4 Features

The DJI Phantom 4 is more expensive but it comes with more features than the new GoPro Karma. Two of the more important features the DJI Phantom 4 has that the GoPro Karma doesn't are the 'Follow Me' mode and Collision Avoidance. GoPro may not think that these features are necessary, but some users of drones might disagree.

Needless to say, the price comparison can explain the difference in features. DJI store says the DJI Phantom 4 is at $1199. The GoPro Karma, on the other hand, costs $1099 with the latest GoPro Hero 5 action cam with 4K installed.
