UFC 205: McGregor Given Special Treatment; Confirmed Fight Cards Expected To Make Big Bucks

Conor McGregor is a very special fighter and it's not just because of his immense talent but also because of the power he wields within the UFC organization, which is really evident in the fiasco of UFC 205.

Fans might remember Conor McGregor winning the featherweight strap with a sensational knockout of longtime champion Jose Aldo but has since left that whole division on ice since then. He has made forays into the welterweight division twice by fighting Nate Diaz losing via submission and ultimately winning the second one through a thrilling majority decision.

It definitely looked like it was done after that, Dana White already made a statement that Conor must relinquish that featherweight belt if he does not defend it against Jose Aldo who won a convincing match against no. 1 contender Frankie Edgar making him the interim champion of that division.

So what happened after that? Well from the looks of things, it seems like the Irishman got his way and will fight lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez without losing his strap. If he pulls it off he could be the company's first-ever fighter to become a two-way champion.

The answer to this seemingly complex issue is pretty simple: It's all about money.

McGregor's last outing with Diaz generated one of the most pay-per-views buys in the company's history and a potential super fight with the lightweight champion figures to make bigger bucks.

Truth be told, this is not exactly a bad thing. Conor McGregor is not only a great promoter he is also a fighter who keeps seeking bigger challenges.

Furthermore, his last tour with Jose Aldo ended with the Brazilian pulling out just weeks before the event after almost a year of promoting. They eventually met in the octagon some months later which eventually ended with a 13-second knockout.

Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez will be part of a spectacular UFC 205 card. Fans would definitely want to tune in on Nov. 12.
