HTC 'Definitely' Releasing New Tablet

It's been long since HTC released its own tablet. But some reports now are indicating that the Taiwanese smartphone maker is gearing up to unveil a follow-up tablet of Flyer which will initially be launched in the UK.

HTC Flyer, which was released in May 2011, despite its attractive features like screen quality, HD video recording, digital pen and HTC's Sense UI customization, could not make much of an impression in the tablet market due to its high price tag and smartphone-style OS.

In its second attempt, HTC launched Jetstream, a 4G LTE tablet exclusively on AT&T in September last year. Even after integrating Sense to Honeycomb successfully, an exorbitant $629.99 price tag doomed the fate of the tablet.

Since then, tablet pundits had written off HTC. But it seems that HTC has still not lost hope! A spokesperson of the company confirmed PC Advisor that it is prepping another Android tablet. While the launch date is not confirmed, it is "definitely" coming. And, when it's launched, it will have something "unique to offer."

According to the folks at PC Advisor, the next HTC tablet will certainly run Google's latest Android operating system, 4.1 Jelly Bean.

In an overcrowded tablet market, we are still unsure about the unique specifications that HTC is planning to offer with its tablet. And, we still do not know what segment of tablets the company wants to target, high-end like the Apple iPad or entry-level like Google Nexus 7 or Samsung Galaxy Tabs.

What features do you think HTC should pack in to make its upcoming tablet unique? Let us know in the comment section.
