Mass Effect 3 – Earth DLC Announced, Arriving On July 17

More good news for "Mass Effect" fans. BioWare has confirmed that the "Mass Effect 3: Earth" multi-player DLC will be available worldwide for Xbox 360 (Xbox LIVE) and PCs (Origin) July 17 onwards. North American PlayStation 3 owners will also get the download the same day (PlayStation Network), while European players have to wait until July 18.

The new DLC will show how the human race faces extinction as the war rages on in our own backyard, Earth. You will be fighting for humanity’s survival in the latest installment of downloadable content for "Mass Effect 3" multiplayer.

"Mass Effect 3: Earth" will be available for download at no additional charge and will add three new maps based on three key cities in the galactic war – London, Vancouver and Rio De Janeiro. Players will be introduced to a whole new team of selected N7 forces who will be dispatched to protect the civilization. You will become the final frontier to save the planet along with an arsenal of lethal new weapons, unique upgrades, the all-new Platinum difficulty level and a brand new in-mission objective.

"Earth" will feature three new weapons – Piranha assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol, and Typhoon assault rifle. The six new human N7 classes that are also available will consist of Destroyer Soldier, Paladin Sentinel, Demolisher Engineer, Slayer Vanguard, Shadow Infiltrator, and Fury Adept. What's more, each comes complete with new and powerful abilities and melee attacks.

You can also outfit your weapons with as many as 12 new modifications and strengthen your gear with 11 unique upgrades to defeat even the toughest foes. The new "Platinum" difficulty will look to provide more challenge. Moreover, randomly occurring during waves 3, 6 and 10, the new in-mission objective will challenge teams to keep a targeted agent alive by protecting and escorting them to a designated extraction zone on each map.

As part of the "Mass Effect 3" Galaxy at War system, success in the cooperative multiplayer experience in "Mass Effect 3" links back to the player's single-player campaign. If you gain control over each theater of war, it will automatically increase your Galactic Readiness Rating, and in turn, can influence the your overall experience. However, participation in the "Mass Effect 3" Galaxy at War feature, as per a DSOGaming report, is optional.
