AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Getting OTA Updates That Removes On-Device Search

Are you an AT&T Galaxy S3 user? If so then this is your lucky break. All the AT&T Galaxy S3 users are set to get a minor OTA that, in addition to bringing a new radio (UCLG1), removes local (on-device) search options.

The OTA bomb was first dropped by Sprint when the Sprint version of the Galaxy S III received an over-the-air update that, among other things, removed the ability to search on-device. The Sprint OTA arrived as a Google "security update,” in disguise.

AT&T’s new OTA, as per an Android Central report, includes a radio update along with the aforementioned change.

Verge tried reaching out to Samsung for comment on the updates, and whether they're related to the ongoing Apple-Samsung lawsuit, war and whether and when we can expect them to arrive on other carriers. Nothing has been mentioned by Samsung on that matter as of now.

Moreover, AT&T Galaxy S3 owners will be dealing with a less-functional search bar after the update.

More information on the OTA update will soon follow.
