Wasteland 3 is probably InXile's most ambitious project with more advanced graphics, a multi-player option, an X-COM style camera, and other awesome features.
According to InXile head Brian Fargo, they teamed up with the Christopher and Nic Bischoff of Brotherhood Games. The brothers brought their expertise to the game giving it a more polished graphics. Some of the games under their names include Fallout and BioShock Infinite where they experimented with the use of isometric perspective.
Those who have played Fallout or BioShock will be familiar with the isometric perspective where the camera descend on people and you hear and see them talking to each other. This technique is what fuels immersion. Fargo, however, revealed that they will break from that technique but, instead, they will use an X-COM-like camera.
"We're going to break from the isometric for conversations, and we're also going to break from the isometric in other areas where we think we can dial up the drama. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a good example, where you can zoom in on something and cut to the creature shattering through a window and then go back isometric," Fargo said.
He also added that they will use both synchronous and asynchronous multi-player gameplay. This means that two players can do things together but they can also be independent of each other. Fargo explains this saying that two players can take part in a turn-based battle with different teams of Rangers. However, when they are apart, the players will have a chance to lead the campaign story forward. However, players take note that every move the other player does will cascade a consequence to the other player.
Aside from this, Fargo also revealed that Wasteland 3 will be shorter than the 50-hour gameplay of its predecessor. Wasteland 3 will go live on October 5.
