Let's all sit down and have a quick little quiet contemplation as we recall our princess-saving days in the magical Land of Ooo. Over the past six years, Adventure Time has garnered quite a cult following (me included) but sadly, Cartoon Network recently announced its final days upon the conclusion; which is only at least a couple of years away.
The whimsical adventures of Finn and Jake has appealed to both kids and adults. Pendleton Ward's strange and beautiful creation started way back 2010. Imagination-wise The Land of Ooo seemed limitless, providing us with more crazy stories and personal turmoils that resounded within us in a relatable drum beat - with a dash of "good guy sass" and a helping of amazing characters we all can connect with. What made Adventure Time awesome is unlike other cartoons that are geared toward kids, Finn and Jake, and most of Ooo's memorable characters - developed in terms of character and grew overtime.
Currently in the eighth season, Pendleton Ward announced that production will stop once they've completed the ninth. The new release will have a total of "142 half-hours of content" including "new episodes, mini-series, specials and more." Even though the end will sitll be a couple of years away, knowing the season finale can be bitter-sweet. Since the ending of Adventure Time is announced in advance, the show will be able to have a satisfying end - hopefully.
Pendleton Ward said about the series coming to an end: "Adventure Time was a passion project for the people on the crew who poured their heart into the art and stories. We tried to put into every episode something genuine and telling from our lives, and make a show that was personal to us, and that had jokes too! I'm really happy that it connected with an audience for so long. It's a special thing, I think."
I think they announced the final season so everybody can and will cherish their last moments in the Land of Ooo. So come on - grab a friend, and let's go to very distand lands. Because the fun never ends and it's always Adventure Time.
