From their engagement with the NFL to the recent support of Hendrick Motorsports in NASCAR, or even the Seattle Sounders football team, Microsoft has been massively involved in all kinds of sports. Today, a new sport has just been added to Microsoft's list, as the company has signed a new partnership to work together with Toyota in the upcoming 2017 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) series.
In accordance with a press release, Microsoft, nevertheless, will uphold Toyota's Gazoo Racing in the following areas:
§ Development of a data analysis platform to gather, visualize and analyze various data related to driving which will be utilized in race activities.
§ Creation of a team information-sharing systems to allow team members to collaborate and share various materials such as images and videos efficiently and effectively using a cloud service.
§ Enhancement of communication with fans through providing services utilizing the cloud and using Microsoft's display devices to provide them with a frontrow motorsports experience.
As part of the new alliance, Microsoft will attend as the "tech partner" for the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC rally team. The partnership also comes after the two businesses' collaborative establishment of Toyota Connected, which acquires vehicle data to help in advancement in driving and safety for Toyota's buyers.
Toyota President Akio Toyoda said: "I believe that, like Toyota, Microsoft aims to enrich society in meaningful ways. Based on the on-going partnership, we aim to further develop our people and enhance our cars through the use of IT in motorsports to promote 'ever-better cars'."
