Galaxy S3 Sales Figure: Samsung to Sell 5 Million Units, Says Analyst

As per a JP Morgan-based analyst, Samsung has already sold 6.5 million units of Galaxy S3 in the second quarter and will be selling as many as 15 million units in the following quarter (July through September), French newspaper Les Echos (translated) revealed.

If their estimation turns out to be correct, the Korean giant will sell over 20 million units in just six month after being introduced in the market. It will easily cross the sales figure of Galaxy S2 which took five months to sell 10 million units. Samsung's other unique 'phablet' smartphone, Galaxy Note, also stirred the market when launched. Despite receiving lukewarm response from the reviewers, around 5 million Galaxy Notes were sold in less than five months time.

Galaxy S3, which was unleashed in Europe in late May, has faced stock problem before being released in North America but has finally made it in July.

Meanwhile, HTC has reported that the company is finding it difficult to sell its flagship HTC One X smartphone and is struggling to make an impression in the market, which is dominated by Apple and Samsung. The Taiwanese company has revealed its second quarter earnings result which shows its net profit fell 57.77 percent from a year earlier and revenue dipped 27 percent.

Samsung's fabled Galaxy S3 smartphone will be available from 300 mobile carriers across 147 countries by the end of July. And, it is expected that the most advanced Android smartphone will rule the smartphone world for a few more months until Apple introduces its much-awaited iPhone 5.
