Fox Searchlight Pictures has already begun its production for the A.A. Milne biopic, starring Domhnall Gleeson as the well-known "Winnie The Pooh" author and Margot Robbie as Milne's wife, Daphne.
While the biopic still lacks a title, this next big-screen picture that will tell the world about the life story of the "Winnie-the-Pooh" author is officially underway as its first promo picture was recently released. In this early image from the set of the movie revealed Thursday, actor Gleeson was seen playing as Milne -- who created "Winnie the Pooh" after getting inspiration from his son Robin's toys -- alongside his wife and Robin's mother Dorothy "Daphne" de Sélincourt, played by Robbie.
Fox Searchlight has already begun with the principal photography of the as-yet-untitled A.A. Milne biopic in London U.K. A host of casting additions joining the lead stars include Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Campbell Moore, Alex Lawther, Richard McCabe, Nico Mirallegro, Geraldine Somerville and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. In addition, Will Tilston will play the young and world famous Christopher Robin.
The movie focuses on the father and son relationship between Milne and Robin, whose stuffed bear and piglet toys awakened Milne's imagination. This later on became his inspiration to create the magical world of Pooh Bear, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, and the rest of the characters that lived in the book "Winnie-the-Pooh" dated 1926. "The House at Pooh Corner" then came out two years after the success of the first book. These Milne publications took England by storm following World War I, putting international spotlight on their family.
Simon Curtis ("Woman in Gold," "My Week with Marilyn") is the film director, basing on a script by Frank Cottrell Boye ("Railway Man") and by Simon Vaughan ("War and Peace"). On the other hand, Vaughan serves as executive producer. Steve Christian ("Belle") together with Damian Jones -- behind U.K. hits "Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie," "The Lady in the Van" and "Dad's Army" -- are both producing the film.
"I'm thrilled to finally see this fascinating story be realized with such an array of fresh and exciting talent in front of and behind the camera as well as continuing my ongoing collaboration with Fox Searchlight," said Jones.
