Battlefield 4? Really? Well, that seems to be the news that is suddenly making rounds on the internet. As per the latest reports, pre-ordering “Medal of Honor: Warfighter” on Origin will provide buyers access to the “Battlefield 4” beta. The report came up after there was an advertisement on EA's digital distribution service.
As of now, EA has removed this listing. But it still remains an interesting proposition considering EA and DICE are yet to make a “Battlefield 4” announcement of any kind, and mostly because “Battlefield 3” downloadable content will continue until March 2013.
As reported by IGN, when you click the pre-order button, it yields no additional information about “Battlefield 4,” nor does the official Battlefield Web site. And although EA hasn’t actually announced “Battlefield 4,” the idea of a sequel is not really a surprise for the series. As of now, “Battlefield 3” continues to sell massive numbers of the game and more than 800,000 people have signed up for “Battlefield” Premium.
However, this is not the first time that rumors related to a new “Battlefield” game has come up. Previously, Electronic Arts president Frank Gibeau confirmed “Battlefield 4” in an off-handed comment last year, and “Battlefield Bad Company 3” even appeared on an employee resume only recently.
Moreover, a UK-based retailer listed something called “Battlefield Evolved” back in March.
More reports on this will soon follow.
