2016 has been a big year for virtual reality. Multiple companies have released their take on the relatively infant platform, to generally positive reviews. In addition, various game developers have also started to release titles that take advantage of the technology with VR. But one of the most anticipated machines at this point is the PlayStation VR.
The device itself is no stranger to the gaming world. For the past few months, Sony has been displaying the unit and providing demos in different tech shoes. In fact, it is already available on a pre-order basis. Now, Sony has finally unveiled exactly what is included in every purchase.
Release Date And Price
As noted by PlayStation Lifestyle, the PlayStation VR will be available on October 13. With its relatively cheap price of US$399 and the PS branding, there is no doubt that the head mounted device will further advance VR as a whole.
The popularity of the unit at this point has the estimated sale numbers at 1.6 million - and this is just for until the year closes.
Unboxing the PlayStation VR
The core unit comes with the PSVR headset and an inline remote, which controls the microphone and audio settings. The box also includes a standard set of earphones, which are not a required set for the unit as any pair will do.
The PSVR processing unit is of course, included as well. It is connected to the television screen and the PlayStation 4 and enables 3D audio and the social screen feature. Naturally there are various wires that come with it as well, including an HDMI cable and a USB cable.
The unit will also come with the PSVR demo disc, which includes demo play for 18 different VR titles. According to PlayStation, the disc includes "Battlezone," "Here They Lie," "Rez Infinite," "Rigs Mechanized Combat League" and "Wayward Sky."
