“The Purge: Election Year” was a big hit around the world when it was released early this year. Mixed with thrilling and action-packed scenes, moviegoers went home satisfied with the film. “The Purge” has never failed to amaze its supporters, as all the installments too became a huge success in the cinema.
According to Metro, James DeMonaco, the creator of “The Purge”, called the TV series an “interwoven anthology”. He also stated that the show would tackle the reasons why someone would actually do purging, which is not exactly the focus of the former installments.
James DeMonaco, according to the source, said that:
“‘The idea of why I like the idea of a maybe 10-hour TV thing on this, the one thing you really can’t do on the films is, just because of mere real estate and time, is you can’t get into the nuance of complexity that would drive someone to commit a terrible act on this night,”
In terms of “interwoven anthology”, Demonaco, as cited in Movie News Guide, agreed to make six or seven storylines with the intention of intercutting them and inserting flashbacks.
“The Purge” TV series planning is at its early stage; this is why the date of release has not been announced to the public yet. Producers of the show would want to have a 10-hour season tackling “The Purge” in a deeper level.
With the three installments gaining great reviews and huge amount of success, the TV series is bound to be a sure hit and an added excitement for fans around the globe.
