Sony has released an update for the tablet version of its Music Unlimited app on Android.
For tablet users, the Music Unlimited service Android tablet app update (V1.4) delivers Offline Playback, giving users the ability to enjoy music even when a 3G or Wi-Fi connection isn’t available, or when they want to conserve battery life or curb data usage.
Note that if you’re a subscriber to the Music Unlimited service and want to enable offline playback on your Android tablet, simply update your app to v1.4 through the Google Play market, restart the app, and follow these simple steps:
- Go to My Library > Playlists
- Tap the Options button for the playlist you want to have available offline
- Select “Available Offline”
The smartphone app, meanwhile, has also been updated, and now has access to the My Channels feature, which lets you enhance the music discovery process by analyzing and categorizing musical traits of the more than 15 million tracks available globally and automatically populates a station with tracks related to the selected artist.
The feature is available to both basic and premium subscribers, and has been included in other versions of the app for some time, including on the PlayStation 3, PC, and Mac.
