This is quite interesting and weird. Last week we reported that HTC HD2, which has lived up to its reputation and everyone’s expectations as one of the most flexible smartphones and getting a port of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean well in advance of many proper Androids. Now we see that non-Android phones are also trying to get a piece of Jelly Bean’s action and it has been reported that a port is also available for Nokia’s N9.
The MeeGo-based N9 revealed the first look at the type of design that would come to lead Nokia’s Lumia line. Although the device’s hardware sounds a little underpowered by today’s standards, based around a TI OMAP3630 running at 1GHz, the Nokia handset is still very much capable of running Android.
As a proof, Alexey Roslyakov of drunkdebugger has posted an image of a N9 running the Jelly Bean on Twitter.
Since the N9 has been slowly forgotten by Nokia, the developers’ community decided to keep the thing alive. Although the official updates are still available, it is a known fact that they won’t continue for long, and the developers are now looking to make the most out of the device.
More reports on this will soon follow. Stay tuned.
