Facebook aims to be bigger. The social networking site is starting to expand its messaging empire by launching another messaging app for Android phones.
This year, Facebook has discovered the usage of Facebook Lite has reached to 100 million monthly users after launching it last 2015. The social site wants to create a network of the next billion users growing in the market according to The Verge.
Recently, Facebook updated its Messenger app to improve the communication and apply several changes with the app.
Facebook Introduces Messenger Lite
Facebook has introduced Messenger Lite and describing it as "slimmed down version of Messenger" especially for Android phones with lower memory compared to the latest models of Android phones.
The messenger app is already available in Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela and will expand in the other countries sooner.
Since Facebook launched Facebook Lite last year, this newly introduced Messenger Lite is its next big move. Facebook described its newest version of messenger and said, "With Messenger Lite, people are able to quickly and easily send text, photos and links to anyone using Messenger or Messenger Lite," (via Tech Crunch).
Messeger Lite has the same functions with the original Messenger app. It allows users to send and to receive pictures, texts, links and also the stickers. Since it is a lower version of the original one, it is easy to be downloaded because it is only 10 MB.
Messenger Lite Will Reach Million Users
Tom Mulcahy, Engineering Manager of Messenger Lite explained, "With Messenger Lite, more people can stay in contact, regardless of network conditions or storage limitations on their Android devices."
David Marcus, head of Messenger said via Android Headlines, "We want to make sure Messenger products are truly for everyone." The latest and seems to be successful move of Facebook has earned more users than before.
Facebook has high hopes regarding the Messenger Lite following the huge success of Facebook Lite.
