Xbox Scorpio Price is Below $600, Xbox Head Suggests

The console wars have just begun. Two of the major players in the gaming industry are constantly in battle to prove which is best against the other. With Project Scorpio still largely unknown, one of the biggest questions to be asked about Microsoft's New Console is how will it beat Sony's Playstation 4 Pro and how much it will cost.

Premium Specs to Come with a Premium Cost?

Although the company is not open to releasing any specs yet, Microsoft is attempting to keep up with the demands of gamers for emerging technologies such as 4K, VR and HDR content. Reports say that Xbox will "be the most powerful console ever made."

Xbox President Phil Spencer added that Scorpio will "not carry a price tag that's unheard of in the console-gaming world," CNET reported. This would mean that although a premium product, the console still will not cost more than $600, which is the price of the most expensive console released to date.

The Sony PlayStation 4 Pro that comes out on November will cost for $400 while the newest Xbox Console, The Xbox One S is priced at $300 for a 500GB bundle.

"When we designed both of these [Xbox One S and Project Scorpio]...we kind of designed it in parallel," Spencer said. "We thought about the price performance of what we wanted to hit with the Scorpio, relative to what we were going to be able to do with the S. So that we would have a good price continuum, so people wouldn't look at these two things as so disconnected because of the price delta."

One new interesting thing about Microsoft which TechRadar reported is that all consoles in the Xbox One family, including Scorpio and the One S, can play and access from the same library of games. However, more powerful consoles like Scorpio will feature better gaming experiences due to the more powerful components.

More than raw power, Microsoft eyes to include a 4K Blu Ray Drive which gives it more advantage over the new PS4. Microsoft Senior Director, Albert Penello said during an interview with Wired that "PS4 Pro is not powerful enough to support 4k features and that the performance gap between both consoles will be "obvious."
