'Frozen 2' New And Updates: Elsa Gets A Girlfriend In Sequel? Idina Menzel Excited About The Idea

"Frozen 2" remains to be under wraps as the highly anticipated sequel gave very little information as to the movie's progress. However, singer-actress Idina Menzel, the voice behind Queen Elsa, recently shared her insights about the rumors regarding the film.

It can be recalled that "Frozen 2" has become controversial when petitions surfaced online asking Disney to #GiveElsaAGirlfriend in the upcoming sequel. Apparently, Elsa's strong and independent personality makes her a perfect candidate to represent the LGBT community.

Menzel expressed her excitement about the said idea. In an interview with guest host Miley Cyrus at "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the 45-year-old singer-actress said, "I think it's a wonderful idea. It's a wonderful conversation that we should all have about whether a Disney princess or queen could be gay,"

However, Menzel claimed that she "can't promise anybody that's going to happen" in "Frozen 2" and revealed that she 's also uninformed about the sequel's plot, saying, "Honestly, I don't know. And I'm a servant of Disney."

It can be recalled that Menzel also expressed her approval in giving Elsa a girlfriend in an earlier interview with PrideSource, saying, "Maybe at first I was a little surprised because it's Disney, but I can say that I'm excited that the conversation is happening. I can't promise anybody that that's what's gonna happen... But deep down am I really happy that it's causing people to talk about it and have these kinds of conversations? Yeah, I am."

In case this kind of scenario will take place in "Frozen 2," this isn't going to be the first time for Menzel to play a bisexual role. In fact, Menzel also gave life to Maureen in "Rent" which landed her a Tony Award Nomination.

"I'd get all these amazing letters from young kids struggling with their sexual orientation and who they were and how they wanted to come out. And it's continued to be like that, really, with Wicked and Frozen, with Elsa. There are always these characters who are literally trying to come out of the closet - they're hiding something within them that they're afraid to let people see, and then finally they embrace it and change the world around them."

As of this writing, no other confirmation has been made regarding "Frozen 2." Will Elsa be better off alone? Or is it a good idea to give her a girlfriend? Fans of the phenomenal Disney flick will have to wait and see how everything unfolds when the sequels premieres.
