A 27-inch iMac was briefly spotted on Best Buy's website. The computer is powered by a seventh generation Kaby Lake Intel Core i7 processor.
According to Techno Buffalo, the upgraded iMac was listed as "New." It is equipped with a Retina 5K display, 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB Fusion Drive. The Kaby Lake Core i7 processor is not the only change in the refreshed iMac.
Apparently, it contains an upgraded AMD Radeon R9 M380 graphics chipset. The chip has a 2 GB RAM for videos, according to Apple Insider. The leaked new iMac's model number is K0SC0LL/A. Best Buy currently sells the said iMac at $3200.
Discrepancies On The Best Buy Page
Apple Insider notes that there are a couple discrepancies with the 27-inch iMac posted on Best Buy's page. For one, the said model can be bought at a cheaper price.
Apple's website offers it at only $3150, which is $50 less than that of the Best Buy. The iMac available onApple.com is powered by a 4.0GHz sixth generation i7 processor. It also is also fitted with 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB Fusion drive.
Among other discrepancies include the R9 M380 chip and the Kaby Lake processor. The current 5K iMac has an R9 M395 chip installed. As for the processor, there is no evidence to prove that a Kaby Lake processor compatible with a 27-inch iMac is in the works or even shipping.
Furthermore, the Apple model number listed is inconsistent with previous iMac models. The usual format is MK462 succeeded by two digits and then a "/A".
The Timing Makes Perfect Sense
Even with the discrepancies, however, Apple is set to launch its MacBook Pro this month which could also be the perfect time to introduce a new iMac. The Apple event has note been confirmed yet, but tons of rumors about it have been spreading.
