Because of certain claims made against the auto manufacturer, Ford was somewhat pushed into revealing some relatively top secret items. While some of the numbers that were provided simply show just how well the company was doing on American soil, it also disclosed one piece of exciting information. That is, that the Ford Bronco is once again entering the market.
The Push
Ford has recently been under some scrutiny for moving jobs outside of the United States and into Mexico. But as Auto Blog notes, CEO Mark Fields confirmed that this is not the case. In fact, the company even cited large investments that were made and the job growth percentages from the United States.
The Initial Excitement
Earlier this year, Ford already announced that it would add four SUVs to its current lineup. Because it was already public knowledge that a contract was signed between Ford and United Automobile Workers (UAW), it was already speculated from the beginning that the Bronco would once again be seen in showrooms. However, no confirmation has been made until now.
"We hate to see the products go to Mexico," UAW chairman Bill Johnson told the Detroit Free Press. "But with the Ranger and the Bronco coming to Michigan Assembly that absolutely secures the future for our people a lot more than the Focus does."
A Very Patriotic Choice
The choice that Ford has made to keep Bronco manufacturing in US soil is actually a very logical one. As Johnson said, manufacturing the Focus in other locations is more profitable because of the size of the truck. This is because, generally, trucks are more profitable than sedan units.
Therefore, putting together trucks within the more expensive US soil makes more sense. Recently, there has been a trend growing with two-door off-road trucks with the Jeep Wrangler. As such, now might be the perfect time for Ford to release a 21st version of the Bronco.
