Samsung is proving that their Galaxy Note 7 still has a huge following.
Samsung has officially launched back its Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in South Korea after a global recall of 2.5 million units. Amid explosion reports, the over 45,000 of the new phablets were sold during the three-day holiday weekend, Forbes reported.
The company claims that 15,000 units of the new phones were sold on its October 1 relaunch. Samsung seems to be pushing the Note 7 unit aggressively on the market through its advertisement campaigns.
Samsung Recovers From Defective Batteries Issue
Samsung suspended its Galaxy Note 7 sales after news of faulty batteries spread across the globe. There have been over 70 reports of battery explosions worldwide since it launched in mid-August. The battery crisis may have tainted the South Korean Electronics Giant, but with over 400,000 Galaxy Note 7 units sold, Samsung may still well be in the race. The company says more than half of those local phones have been replaced.
Samsung to Relaunch in U.S. Soon
Samsung mentioned in its official blog that Note 7 will be available for purchase in other markets in the coming weeks. Verizon and Sprint have already started selling the phablet in the U.S., but the official relaunch will not be until Oct. 21, according to rumors.
Samsung is also expected to kick off European sales starting Oct. 28. In India, the device is going up for sale on Oct. 7.
Samsung is Still Expecting a High Profit
As per the publication, Initial reports suggested the South Korean company could lose $1 billion over the recall, but Korea Herald noted that Samsung is set to post an operating profit of $6.79 billion in the third quarter. The estimated sales for the company are projected to be $45 billion (51 trillion won), which is more than what Samsung managed last quarter.
Samsung tries to bury the recall debacle behind it as quickly as possible, particularly with the launch of its global rival Apple's iPhone 7 in Korea next week. Other smartphone makers LG, Huawei, Sony and Blackberry are also eyeing opportunity with upcoming Korean launches.
