New iPad Pros To Be Released Next Year, Rumors on Specs and New Features

After Apple unveiled its iPhone 7 and 7 Plus flagship phones early September, Apple is now planning to release its next round of gadgets.

Rumors say that the company eyes to launch three iPad Pro models including a new 7.9 inch model, and updates to the 9.7-inch and 10.1-inch models in March 2017, according to MacRumors via Japanese Blog Mac Otakara.

iPad Pro Specs, Details

Otakara's blog which cited "reliable sources," said that the new 7.9-inch Pro model will feature four speakers and a Smart Connector, similar to the current line of iPad Pros previously updated in March of this year.

The iPad Mini 4 is also reported to be revamped as a 7.9-inch iPad Pro.

The three models are believed to retain the headphone jack. Although the report did not provide a specific launch timeline and possible prices, Mac Otakara further said that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 will receive a 12-megapixel camera with True Tone flash. No other specs were revealed.

Analyst Backs Rumors

A well-known Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo also said last month that three new iPads will be launched in 2017: a 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2, a new size 10.5-inch iPad Pro and a low-cost 9.7-inch iPad. Kuo did not mention a 7.9-inch Pro, zdnet reported.

Kuo is expecting that iPad sales will continually fall 10 to 20 percent in the next few years adding that Apple could bring big changes to the iPad lineup in 2018, with the adoption of a flexible AMOLED panel for increased screen resolution and radical changes to form-factor.

New iPad Pros Release Date

Next year, the tech company will roll out the iPad Pro 2 together with the iPad Mini 5 or the iPad Pro Mini. The iPad Pro 2 is also said to have a faster display with a better Apple Pencil. Rumors added that the iPad Mini Pro may take on a new name and that the iPad Mini 5 will be featuring a Retina display and 3GB RAM along with a Apple Pencil Stylus.
