As for now, Verizon-based Galaxy Nexus owners will have to remain happy with Ice Cream Sandwich. And although recent reports have stated that Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners are not happy owners when it comes to the Nexus experience and timely Android platform updates, a new leak is about to change all that.
As per an Android Central report, a leak from Verizon’s system is showing an upcoming OTA update for the phone. It is reportedly build IMM76Q and there are mixed reactions and beliefs regarding this.
While some believe that it is just a performance improvement and bug fix update, others consider it to be a very small refresh meant to avoid future possible litigations. According to the website’s source, although the IMM76Q build is still Ice Cream Sandwich, it seems like it has a newer baseband and software version.
Now if the IMM76Q tag looks familiar, that's simply because it's been rumored for about a month now. A user at XDA reported seeing the update prompt. “I received an OTA software update with build number IMM76Q. Has anyone else received it?” he wrote.
Even users in the Verizon Galaxy Nexus forums say that they've been told by Samsung and Verizon that it will address the signal drop issues that creates problem for some users in certain areas.
However, everyone has their finger crossed with the hope that this is the last update before the greatest update of them all arrives – Jelly Bean.
