Overwatch players noticed that Roadhog's hook seems to have an unfair advantage when used against other heroes. Blizzard is well aware of the problem but its solution may make a lot Roadhog players cry foul.
Roadhog's Hook - Second to None
Roadhog players have enjoyed using his hook to snare enemy heroes. This is the reason why a lot of players have picked the pot-bellied hero in many of their matches. He is a hero who could assume the role of a tank and DPS at the same time.
Roadhog's Hook - Unfair Advantage
Unfortunately, the Roadhog's hook is doing things it should not be doing. It seems the hook is capable of penetrating through walls. This has been the observation of other players and Overwatch game developer Blizzard has acknowledged. There are a number videos posted in the internet to prove that the claims are true.
Some Overwatch players even claimed that Roadhog's hook instantly captures opposing heroes on sight. But players' eyes are fooled by the animation lag. This is possibly the reason why Roadhog need only a second to hook an enemy even if the character is safely hidden protected by a wall. If this is true, then Roadhog's hook is basically a hitscan weapon.
Blizzard's Explanation of Roadhog's Hook And Possible Solution
Blizzard recently explained that Roadhog's hook is a weapon that searches for targets. This means that enemies targeted by Roadhog's hook stand little chance of escape even if they shielded by a wall or door. Blizzard also insists that the hook is a projectile weapon and debunked the accusation that it's a hitscan, according to Kotaku.
The Overwatch game developer also said it's searching for a solution to somehow stop Roadhog's from going thru walls. However, such modifications will effectively nerfed Roadhog, a prospect that is not welcomed by this character's fans.
