A lot of games that simulate various activities in real life have been made but there has neve been one that allows a player to take the role of a game developer. That is until the Indie Game Sim.
The Indie Game Sim is described as computer game development in a game. Here players take the role of an indie video game developer and tackle the role and responsibilities of that job.
The game is a challenge in itself because they are the ones who will actually build the game they have to play. All they need to do is choose the elements and characters they want to include in the game from a drag and drop style interface. As they develop the game, they also need to test every aspect of the game from the characters to its playability.
After that, they also need to publish it in a fictional marketplace for games and set the price how much they are going to sell it. They can monitor the success of their game by looking at the rankings, the number of sold units, and the ratings the fictional community has given the game.
The game is still in its concept stage and the trailer was released in the Steam community for feedback whether the game can be developed into a full-scale game. So far, the Steam Greenlight community has given the game some positive feedback; thus, it is not impossible to see the full version of the game in the future.
"LDG has made some good games in the past - this looks a bit different from their normal fare, but I'd be interested in seeing what they do with it," said one forum community member.
The game concept was created by Lost Decade Games, a California-based indie game comedy which also created the "Wizard Lizard: Soul Thief."
