Xperia Arc S And Mini Pro – Sony UK Confirms Unavailability Of Android Jelly Bean

Sony UK has confirmed that a couple of Xperia handsets will not be receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

John Cooper, UK product manager for Sony Mobile, responded to Facebook questions regarding Sony Mobile and the Xperia line by stating that the Arc S and Mini Pro won't be getting the latest version of the operating system.

He also stated that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has been approved for the entire Xperia S line, but that the company has made no announcements regarding a Jelly Bean update. Sony is yet to officially announce that any Xperia devices will get Android 4.1.

“Unfortunately Arc S won’t be getting the Jelly Bean updated but we’re always developing new phones and making sure they get the latest updates,” Cooper said when answering question on FB.

The fact that the Arc S, as the flagship of the Xperia range, isn't getting an Android 4.1 update leads many to believe that the others won't get the update either. The news, however, has arrived just after an Xperia S was spotted running on official Android 4.0.4 software as far back as the end of May.

Nonetheless, the 2012 Xperia range do look likely to get the update, although the exact timing remains unknown right now.
