Canadian Rapper Drake has canceled his ongoing "Summer Sixteen" tour which was supposed to include a big one in his hometown of Toronto.
The reason for the cancellation is because of an ankle injury that he suffered. The cities affected by the cancelled shows are Toronto, Philadelphia, and Newark. There is no word yet if the shows would be rescheduled for another date.
Drake wrote a heartfelt note to his fans regarding the issue. The rapper wanted to make it clear that he wanted to continue with the tour but was advised by a doctor to give his ankle some time off.
"We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night. I hate to be told I can't do something. But under doctor's orders to allow me to recuperate, I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support." The rapper said in his note.
He also addressed the three cities that would be affected by the cancellations. The rapper also dropped some good news to Newark as he is only going to cancel one of the two shows which were scheduled there.
"Toronto (my hometown) and Philadelphia (a city that was one of the loudest and showed so much love) are two of the intense three in a row show cycle that will be postponed. I was asked to postpone both Newark shows but I have yet to perform there and so we compromised at one."
Drake ended his note looking to stay positive from the entire ordeal. He thanked his fans and is promising to make it up to them. If making it up to them means a reschedule of the festivities is still up in the air.
"I am crushed to even be typing this announcement because I feel like I am letting my fans in these cities down. I only want to give you the best show you deserve. I promise I will make it up to you. Thank you for your understanding and I can't wait to see you all again with new music and a stronger ankle."
Hopefully, Drake can get that ankle up and running to make up for those "Summer Sixteen" shows getting canceled.
