Windows Phone 8 Emulator Could Have Native Screenshot Support

Back when the Windows Phone 8 SDK was leaked, we got a small glimpse of what the new Windows Phone OS would be looking like. Now the same emulator states that a wanted feature, a native screenshot support, could also be added.

The screenshot support was previously absent in Windows 7.5, but thankfully, that issue, as of now, appears to be resolved in Windows Phone 8, as WP7App.de has dug deep into the emulator and confirmed the feature exists. The feature is also enabled by clicking the Start and Camera button at the same time.

The feature, of all users, will be quite useful for developers and techies all over who work with SDKs and review gadgets. It will also be something pretty cool that you can show off to your friends. And although there were other solutions for Windows Phone 7, now it appears that Windows Phone 8 will (finally) be able to do it natively.

Elsewhere, Microsoft has confirmed, in its annual U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission report, that the next version of its operating system, Windows 8, will be available on October 26, 2012.

However, it is important to note here that these will be Windows RT tablets powered by ARM processors. The Pro version, as announced, will arrive 90 days later, and most probably at the beginning of next year (realistically, towards the end of January). Official pricing will be unveiled “closer to availability and is expected to be competitive with a comparable ARM tablet or Intel Ultrabook-class PC”.
