Sony to Launch Xperia Tablet Soon, Reveals Leaked Image

Sony's Tablet S is soon receiving its thinner and more powerful successor.

According to leaked images found by German news site Mobiflip, Sony will brand its new tablet simply as the 'Xperia Sony Tablet.' The tablet will come with a quad-core Tegra 3 processor; Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 3G connectivity, 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of internal storage, a powerful 6000mAh battery to support almost 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing. Moreover, the tablet will feature Bluetooth 3.0, SD card slot to expand memory, stereo speakers, an 8-megapixel primary snapper and 1-megapixel front camera for video callings.

The Mobiflip report also claims that the new Xperia tablet will sport an 8.8mm-thick splash-proof aluminum body which will be 42 percent thinner than the Tablet S.

The most intriguing part is, however, the keyboard cover of the Sony tablet which has striking similarity with Microsoft's newly launched Surface tablet cover. As per the report, retail price of the tablet will start at $449.99 while the cover will be $99.99.

Sony is expected to unveil the Xperia Tablet at Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) trade show that will take place in Berlin on August 31.
