Google's Nexus Q will not come anytime soon as the release of the Android-powered set-top sphere has been delayed for indefinite period of time. The Internet search engine giant has also stopped accepting pre-orders for the Nexus Q. The order page has been taken down from Google Play and leaves customers with a simple note stating the device "is coming soon."
While the news is not as bad as it appears as the maker of the media streaming hub has promised to make it even better by introducing some updates and those who have already pre-ordered the device, will be receiving it in its current form for free.
Google launched its orb-shaped media streaming hub called Nexus Q during I/O conference in June. According to the company, Nexus Q is "the first social streaming media player" as guests at your place can also play songs, "Q-up" them and can even remove them from the playlist. The device was, however, highly criticized for its high price tag of $300.
Check out what Google says about the Nexus Q delay:
We have an important update about your Nexus Q pre-order.
When we announced Nexus Q at Google I/O, we gave away devices to attendees for an early preview. The industrial design and hardware were met with great enthusiasm. We also heard initial feedback from users that they want Nexus Q to do even more than it does today. In response, we have decided to postpone the consumer launch of Nexus Q while we work on making it even better.
To thank you for your early interest, we'd like to extend the Nexus Q preview to our pre-order customers and send you a free device. If you had other items in your order, your credit card will be charged for those items only.
Your Nexus Q will be on its way soon and you will receive a notification and tracking number from Google Play when it ships.
