Chromebook and Chromebox owners might get 100GB of free Google Drive online storage soon, claims a recent report that has discovered a code within the Chromium open source operating system.
ChromeStory has identified a man François Beaufort who claimed to have spotted the promo code within the Chromium Code review site that states "Get 100 GB free with Google Drive."
The code mentions several "alternative GDrive promo" and one JavaScript file says "Get 100 GB free with Google Drive."
Google charges $4.99 per month for the 100GB cloud storage option and this option might save almost $60 a year on cloud storage costs.
According to the report, the offer is available only for the "stumpy and lumpy," which are the latest Chrome OS devices released by Samsung, the Chromebook and Chromebox. The first-generation Chromebooks will therefore, not be receiving the cloud storage option.
Samsung has packed in 16GB solid-state drives in the Series 5 chromes. The latest report of 100GB of free online storage, if comes true, will definitely increase the popularity of the ultraportable netbook-like laptops.
