Mafia III: Disaster Brewing in the Corner, PC Version is Locked at 30 FPS Only

Mafia III, the highly anticipated action-adventure game developed by Hangar 13 is now being disparaged by some regarding the latest issue for its PC version.

Mafia III PC version issue

Mafia III is set to be officially released tomorrow, Oct. 7 and although developers have been previously strict in releasing an advance test copy for reviewers, they've eventually graced a free trial for some selected reviewers recently and making the fans eager to see how the new iteration is coming.

But all those Mafia III excitement turned into frustration as PC fans are greeted with a troublesome issue regarding Mafia III's in-game FPS limitation. Based on popular reviewers such as PC Gamer and Cohh Carnage, a popular twitch streamer, Mafia III's is limited to currently play at 30 FPS only.

It is confirmed today that Mafia III is indeed locked at 30 FPS for its PC version but a future update is currently underway to improve the user's gaming experience and current FPS limitation. Although this is not a catastrophic news for most of the fans but still, it's neither a good one. For those that have high-end computers that would like to play this game in high resolution to fully enjoy the gaming experience, this is a major setback for them.

Although this issue only affects PC gamers, it still does provide an overall impact with regards to its future success especially with Mafia III debut tomorrow.

Is Mafia III still a hot game?

The 30 FPS lock issue is not a deal-breaker for most of the fans and certainly not for console gamers. And based on Carnage's live stream, a lot of fans are enjoying the overall feel of the game; the popular twitch streamer also stated that the rest of the game's aspects are still doing pretty well.

Mafia III Developer's Note

After a barrage of questions regarding the issue, 2K Games, the developer of Mafia 3 posted in their official website:

"We know how important having options that best suit your PC's performance capabilities are. The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III's performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second. We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher framerates. We'll share more details about the update, and when you can expect it to arrive, very soon. In the meantime, the team welcomes feedback and would like to hear from you about what performance adjustment options are important to you. We're actively considering a number of additional post-launch improvements on PC that would give players more control over how they can tailor the game's experience to suit their rig's performance."

Hopefully we'll get the new updates soon after the official launching of the game. After all, Mafia III is widely anticipated as one of the hottest games for 2016.
