Microsoft Outlook Signs Up 1 Million Users in Less Than a Day

Outlook.com, which Microsoft just revealed on July 31, has signed up more than one million users within the first few hours after becoming available, announced Microsoft's Outlook Twitter account.

"One million people have signed up for a new, modern email experience at Outlook.com," Microsoft tweeted.

Microsoft launched the preview of the brand new email system to replace its traditional Hotmail system which was launched back in 1996. The objective of unveiling the new email system was to provide a more polished Outlook experience for people's personal email accounts.

According to the Redmond-based company, Outlook comes with 60 percent fewer pixels but 30 percent more messages visible in the inbox. Emails will be available via Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud service and will be categorized on in such a manner that users will "sweep" through emails quickly and easily. With Outlook, user can connect to Facebook and Twitter to enrich conversations, can access Microsoft's suite of productivity tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, SkyDrive and PowerPoint to open, edit and share files in Outlook.com and can also make Skype video calls.

"In the Outlook.com inbox, your personal email comes alive with photos of your friends, recent status updates and Tweets that your friend has shared with you, the ability to chat and video call - all powered by an always up-to-date contact list that is connected to your social networks. And, of course, you are in control of your experience - what you share, the networks you connect to, and your personal information," states the official Outlook Blog.

Existing @hotmail, @live, and @msn account holders can upgrade to the new client and keep their names, informed Microsoft.
