Every year, a new Call of Duty is being released and every year the main discussion revolves around the differences, changes, and what's new about the game that is being released. They also discussed about what to expect and what is there to get excited about.
From a recent interview with Bobby Kotick, the CEO of Activision Blizzard, he did mention that one of the company's priorities is to keep Call of Duty and all of their other games exciting and fresh and that they put a lot of care and consideration into their franchise.
"Our priority is audience focus--the recognition and appreciation that our audiences invest so much in our franchises and our responsibility to them to continually innovate within those," he told Forbes.
"We feel a tremendous responsibility to our audiences to keep our franchises exciting."
"Great franchises provide great roadmaps for innovation and inspiration." He continued. Kotick also talked about "sustainable entertainment franchises" and pointed out Star Wars and Star Trek as an example in which everybody can agree to because of the fact that it was 1977 when the first Star Wars was released and Star Trek was in 1966 and both are still very popular up until now.
While talking about making a new game out of an old franchise, Kotick cited some benefits and one of them is the company already knowing who the audiences are.
"You have an understanding of their expectations. You then take your inspired, creative teams and think about those franchises and what you want to create that is going to delight, surprise, and entertain your fans--all with a lot of knowledge about what actually matters to them and what's important,"
"All you have to do is listen. And that doesn't mean they're going to give you the ideas, but they are certainly going to give you their thoughts and opinions, And if you're respectful of those thoughts and opinions, you're usually going to have a pretty good roadmap for innovation." Kotick added.
