Samsung Galaxy Tabs Receiving Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update

Samsung is rolling out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to its range of tablets.

According to a recent report, the Korean electronics giant will first update the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Android 4.0.4 version of ICS for the UK users.

Samsung has told TechRadar "Samsung UK can confirm the roll out of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus WiFi and Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi devices is live. Any further updates for the Galaxy Tab range will be announced in due course."

While this is certainly good news for the UK users, the U.S. users will have to wait little longer for the ICS upgrade, said Samsung.

Meanwhile, it is still uncertain when Samsung will release the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. "The rollout of Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, has started with Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ and Nexus S devices. We will announce updates to the rest of our Galaxy portfolio of devices in due course," the company informed TechRadar.

According to the TechRadar report, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will also receive the ICS update soon.

With ICS upgrade, now the Samsung tablet will have a revamped user interface, voice input and improved camera capabilities. The update, moreover, promises to address the battery usage and processing speed issues in the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
