Microsoft has finally announced their event for this month. Apparently, the rumors about a Microsoft October event turned out to be true. The company has already confirmed that on the 26th of this month, they will be announcing something big for the Windows 10. Although the hint they have given is pretty much vague, recent leaks suggest that it could be the all new All-In-One Surface PC. If true, then the rumored Apple iMac that would allegedly launch this month could go head to head with the AIO.
Microsoft To Launch Surface PC
Just a few days before the big event announcement, leaks about a certain Surface Keyboard has made an appearance online. This supports the rumors about an upcoming Surface AIO that first surfaced early September. According to a past report from Business Insider, the Surface desktop is initially codenamed "Cardinal" and it kind of resembles the iMac.
The said Surface PC is designed to have a big touchscreen. It also aims to improve workplace teamwork and productivity. As for the Surface All-In-One PC's specs, early reports say that it could come in three display variants. One of which will have a 21-inch screen with Full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution. Two of the Surface PCs will have 4K 3680 x 2140p display. One of the 4K variants will be 24-inch in screen size and the other one will be 27-inch in screen size. Overall, Microsoft describes the Surface AIO as something that could "turn your desk into a studio".
Apple iMac Could Be Launched October
The iMac's absence at the last Apple event makes people assume that it will have an event of its own. Actually, the rumors suggest that the iMac, MacBook Pro 2016 and new iPads will have their own event this October. While this isn't at all impossible considering Apple's past October events, this has not been confirmed just yet. Nevertheless, iMac related rumors have been surfacing online these past few days.
The most recent sighting of the iMac 2016 is the leak that came from a Best Buy page. Mac World says that Best Buy has apparently listed the iMac 2016 in their site. Although the said listing was taken out in no time, this highly suggests the imminent release of Apple's iMac. Take note that the certain Best Buy page showed an iMac that is powered by Kaby Lake indicating that the device is indeed a 2016-version.
If this is true, it would be interesting to see how Microsoft and Apple would once again battle in a hardware showdown. It was said that the iMac could be VR-ready, but it's not yet confirmed. Nevertheless, it is still interesting to find out how the iMac 2016's key features compare to the Surface PC's.
