During the San Diego Comic Con, executive producer of "The Vampire Diaries" Julie Plec confirmed that the upcoming season eight of the series will already be the show's final installment. Much to fans dismay, the lives of the people from Mystic Falls are finally coming to an end. Of course, Nina Dobrev's possible return to the series was not forgotten during an interview with Plec.
Her statement about Dobrev coming back to reprise any of her roles has made a great impact to the fans, expecting that she will indeed return. Although Dobrev may not return as a series regular anymore, she may come back to give closure to her character in the show. She may be coming back as Katherine Pierce or her beloved doppleganger, Elena. The greatest questions now border on who among the Salvatore brothers will Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) end up with?
Ian Somerhalder Believes Elena Should Not End Up With Any Of The Salvatore Brothers
Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" are divided as to who they want Elena to end up with, Damon or Stefan. It can be recalled that before her exit from the show, Elena was currently in love with Damon. However, as history serves it right, she was definitely destined to end up with Stefan as they are both dopplegangers to their ancestors who were meant to be together.
Despite the fans' excitement for Dobrev to return to "The Vampire Diaries," actor Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon and who happens to be Dobrev's ex-boyfriend disagree with the fans. He believes that Elena had already so much having the Salvatore brothers in her life, and that she deserves to live in peace without either one of them. This may also be led by the speculations that the actor doesn't want to work with his ex-girlfriend anymore.
