During the New York Comic Con 2016, "War for the Planet of the Apes" director Matt Reeves along with producer Dylan Clark and Andy Serkis, the voice actor of Caesar, presented the first video footage and new teaser trailer of the upcoming installment of the "Planet of Apes" movie franchise.
The "War for the Planet of the Apes" movie was scheduled for promotion on Thursday, Oct. 6 at the ongoing NYCC. As it is also set for a special preview, the production presented a seven-minute unfinished footage that gave a lot of details of what fans can expect from the upcoming movie. The footage and the trailer briefly showcased how humans and apes will finish their war against each other as the latest film will be the last in the franchise.
From the videos presented, the final battle between men and apes will feature more action unlike the first two films. The plot of the new movie, as suggested by the "End of Dawn," brings Caesar and his fellow apes -- who run their lives in the remains of a human settlement -- go back in a battle field against a military colonel (played by Woody Harrelson) who strikes to wipe out the whole population of apes.
In a report, Reeves revealed that the third movie's storyline has long been planned while the previous entry was still filming.
"We started talking about it [plot] while we were still finishing Dawn," he said. "The amount of time we took off between the films was about four weeks, and we were already talking about the next film. The thing that we always knew from the beginning was that Dawn was about a moment in time where peace was possible. Of course, we know it doesn't become Planet Of The Humans And Apes; it becomes Planet Of The Apes. The question is: How do we get there?" The director's statement can be taken as a hint on who will dominate the world at the end of the story.
The "Planet of Apes" franchise had all eight movies starting from 1968 to the last which was released in 2014. However, the height of its financial success started with "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" which generated a $482,860,185 gross income and was later on overtaken by "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" which grossed $703,545,589, making it a blockbuster hit and one of the best-reviewed blockbuster films of 2014.
Now that the final installment in the franchise is set to premiere in July 2017, Caesar's fans are expecting "War for the Planet of Apes" to again top its predecessors.
