If you are a die-hard “Half-Life fan,” and ready to step into Dr. Gordon Freeman’s shoes once more, buckle up for some intense news. Per the latest reports, after fans were left wanting for more with reports about “Black Mesa: Source” and Source Engine 2, id Software’s Tim Willits believes that Valve is currently working on “Half-Life 3.”
In an interview with Penny-Arcade, id’s Tim Willits discussed about the possibilities of “Doom 4,” about programmer John Carmack, and the tidbit that the company learned from the launch of “Skyrim.” He also dropped a bombshell by stating a bit more about the eagerly anticipated “Half-Life” title.
“You know, everyone knows that Valve is working on Half-Life 3, and I think it’s fine. It will be cool when people see it, and they’ll be excited,” Willits stated.
There’s more. A line of code in one of Source’s Filmmaker files suggests that Valve is working on something called “Half Life 2: Episode Three.” This line of code reads:
“‘_CONTENT = None
def content():
”’ returns a Path instance representing the %VCONTENT% path – path construction this way is super easy: somePropPath = content() / ‘ep3/models/characters/alyx/maya/alyx_model.ma’ ”’
To add more, a lambda icon was spotted in the blog of “DOTA 2.” A picture of a lambda is already there and the HTML alt tag for the image reads “Lambda Lambda Lambda.”
Although these instances are still not enough, we can, somewhat, assume that Valve is actually working on the next “Half-Life” title. Whether it will be called “Half-Life 3” or “Half Life 2: Episode Three” is still to be seen. Only time will reveal.
