The news we've all been waiting for a long time finally bears fruition. Per latest reports, Microsoft has finally confirmed that the next Xbox is in development. The new Xbox will be the company’s second home console in the eighth generation.
However, the news shouldn’t come as a surprise as we’ve already known about the development of a new Xbox for ages. Nonetheless, the confirmation wasn’t exactly direct and the information about the “new Xbox” was revealed through the disclosure of the company’s recent revamping of Hotmail/Outlook, which was in preparation for the “wave of new products” due to launch in the not-so-distant future.
“We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about sixteen years. We obviously have Exchange and Outlook that people use at work,” Brian Hall, General Manager for Windows told The Verge. “We just decided it was time to do something new and to bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows phone, and the new Xbox.”

Although, this declaration is not a flashy press release or a glamorous conference that you expect from a company such as Microsoft, when revealing about any upcoming product, it is definitely an important piece of information at this point of time, till the release of the console.
Earlier this year, a document claiming to outline Microsoft's plans for its next-generation Xbox leaked onto the Internet. The document included plans to launch the revised Kinect hardware and a new VR technology.
The document also stated that the next Xbox would eventually transition into a cloud-only platform, where future titles would be streamed directly to the consumer via the cloud.
