"Haikyuu!" has just aired its first episode of its third season, finally giving fans and viewers the volleyball match they have all been waiting for as Karasuno faces Shiratorizawa in a heart-racing match.
Just last week, "Haikyuu!!" kicked off its new season with the first episode. The new season is titled "Haikyuu!!: Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa", which clearly indicates that the new season will be all about the two teams fighting it out to beat each other in the final game. The match is to determine who gets to play in the Japanese National High School Volleyball Tournament, which Karasuno has been vying for since they have lost their glory as one of the best volleyball teams in Japan.
The first episode titled, "Greetings", opened with the central main characters, Hinata Shoyo and Tobio Kageyama, with the former voicing out his thoughts wondering what the view is on the other side of the tall wall. The metaphor referred to Shiratorizawa's Ushijima Wakatoshi, who was a force to reckon with in the world of Japanese volleyball male teams.
The Karasuno volleyball team has finally arrived at the venue of the Miyagi Prefecture Qualifiers for the Boys' Finals. The team are trying their best to hold in their nervousness by encouraging each other. Karasuno is giddy of the fact that they are final playing center court and against Shiratorizawa.
The episode introduced familiar characters from the previous seasons and climaxed with the introduction of the players who will be playing first six for each team. The episode also showed how Karasuno prepared for the match by studying Shiratorizawa's moves, which were researched by Karasuno's managers. It revealed that Shiratorizawa was an incomplete team, meaning it only relied on one person to score a sure point.
Before the episode ended, it was also pointed out that the final match will be a five-set match. This worried the spectators especially those rooting for Karasuno as this is his first five-set match. Will Karasuno have enough strength and stamina to last five sets against one of Japan's best? "Haikyuu!!" Season 3 episode 2 will air this weekend.
