NBC recently confirmed that the hit TV series "Grimm" will bid its fans goodbye as the upcoming sixth season is allegedly the last. However, new reports claim that a spinoff is on the way. This time, the alleged follow-on series will take on the story of Trubel.
It can be recalled that the network has announced that "Grimm" Season 6 is going to be the final installment of the series, airing on Jan. 6, 2017. The said season will have a total of 13 episodes with the final chapter expected to showcase the face-off between Nick and Capt. Renard.
However, reports claim that "Grimm" creator David Greenwalt along with the series' executives is hoping to get a spinoff once the series ends. In case the spinoff materialized, it might follow the story of Trubel. In fact, during the San Diego Comic-Con in July, Greenwalt expressed his positivity about a Trubel spinoff, saying, "We felt that when we created her."
Jim Kouf, "Grimm's" executive producer is also reportedly pushing the spinoff to get the green light. Considering the popularity of Jacqueline Toboni's character, Trubel, it is only fitting to see more of her in a follow-on series. And if it does come to fruition, fans will be delighted about the possibility of more characters from "Grimm" showing up in the spinoff.
Meanwhile, there are also reports claiming that "Grimm" Season 7 might still see the light of day, given that it gets enough numbers in an online petition recently launched by fans of the show. According to reports, the online petition's goal is to reach 13,000. So far, they already gathered a total of 12,249 supporters.
If in case it reaches the target number of supporters, will it be enough to save the series? Speculations claim that it might, considering that any other show is a number game. "Grimm's" first season recorded an average of six million viewers while the second increased up to seven million. The third season marked its highest rating with almost eight million viewers. However, things started to tone down a bit as the fourth and fifth season recorded about seven and six million respectively.
For now, fans can still enjoy their favorite show as "Grimm" Season 6 is set to return on Jan. 6, 2017.
