It seems that the next-gen Xbox (given the moniker Xbox 720) juggernaut will linger until Microsoft issues an official statement. Till an official announcement heads our way, we can continue to lap up the next best available information i.e., the rumors surrounding the console and the latest one reveals that the "new Xbox" is arriving within the next 18 months.
Previous reports had suggested that Microsoft has finally confirmed that its next Xbox is in development. However, a completely new report has surfaced which states that the eagerly anticipated, futuristic console will launch within the next 18 months. A new job listing for Microsoft was responsible for disclosing the information.
The job ad, which recently surfaced online, discusses plans to launch new versions of Microsoft's "most significant products" over "the next eighteen months", which also includes a new Xbox.
"Over the next eighteen months Microsoft will release new versions of all of our most significant products including Windows (Client, Server, Phone and Azure), Office and Xbox, along with completely new offerings like Microsoft Surface," the ad stated.
"This wave of product launches will define the course of the company for years to come and thus provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to refresh and evolve our strategic brands. The Microsoft brand strategy team is looking for passionate, creative, team oriented branding experts to help us lead this transformation."
The last major report on the rumored console arrived when the "new Xbox" was revealed through the disclosure of the company's recent revamping of Hotmail/Outlook, which was in preparation for the "wave of new products" due to launch in the not-so-distant future.
"We've had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about sixteen years. We obviously have Exchange and Outlook that people use at work," Brian Hall, General Manager for Windows told The Verge. "We just decided it was time to do something new and to bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows phone, and the new Xbox."
Microsoft has since pulled down the job listing and is yet to announce its plans for its next-generation Xbox.
