The nominees for the American Music Awards 2016 has finally been announced on "Good Morning America" by singers Rachel Platten and Joe Jonas. As the singers announce the nominees, both also just found out that they are included in the list. The awards night will happen on November 20, 2016, and will be aired on ABC.
Drake leads the number of nomination with thirteen, followed by Rihanna with seven while Justin Bieber and Adele tied with 5 nominations each. Check out the complete list and details below.
For the Artist Of The Year, ten nominees are competing to win including Justin Bieber, Drake, Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Adele, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood and Twenty One Pilots. As for the New Artist Of The Year, it will be a battle between Alessia Cara, Zayn Malik, Joe Jonas, Shawn Mendes and Chainsmokers.
The Collaboration Of The Year is a tight fight between The Chainsmokers feat. Daya's "Don't Let Me Down," Rihanna feat. Drake's "Work," Meghan Trainor feat. John Legend's "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla's "One Dance and .",Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $Ign's "Work From Home"
Meanwhile, the Tour Of The Year will be a competition between four stars namely Beyonce, The E Street Band, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen, who all had a very successful concert tours so it will surely be a tough decision to choose just one winner.
For the music videos that we just can't get enough of, the Video Of The Year Award can be won by any of the following; Rihanna feat Drake "Work", Justin Bieber's "Sorry" and Designer's "Panda".
On the other hand, the battle for Favorite Male Artist in pop/rock genre will be a head to head battle between Drake, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber. As for Favorite Female Artist, it's not surprising to see Adele, Rihanna, and Selena Gomez on the list.
For the Favorite Duo or Group Award, it is obvious that it's a battle between DNCE, Twenty One Pilots and The Chainsmokers as these bands have been ranking pretty well in Spotify and Pandora. For the Favorite Album and Favorite Song, again it's a battle between the top three contenders, Drake, Justin Bieber and Adele.
In the country category, Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, and Blake Shelton are nominated for the Favorite Male Artist award while Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood and Cam for the Favorite Female artist.
And lastly, the Favorite Artist in the Adult Contemporary genre is a battle between Rachel Platten, Meghan Trainor, and Adele.
