Gearbox Software’s upcoming first-person shooter with role-playing elements “Borderlands 2” has received some eagerly-anticipated details. The new information has revealed more about the game’s mechanics, gameplay, and provided an overview of the inclusion of new enemies.
Gearbox’s art director Jeramy Cooke told the Official Xbox Magazine that players would have to re-spec their characters because there will be enemies that the player won’t see on their first run.
“New mechanics and new creatures will appear that you’re [sic] wont see on your first run. You can dig deep down in the skill trees and find skills that you haven’t been able to access before, combining these things together with your gear. Super rare gear can sometimes change the way you play the game – you might, for example, find that gun that fires forever,” he said.
“Borderlands 2 follows the story of four new Vault Hunters as they fight to free Pandora from the clutches of Handsome Jack, the brilliant, charismatic, and utterly despicable CEO of the Hyperion Corporation,” the game’s official page states. “Players will fight across the whole of Pandora to stop Jack from awakening an ancient alien evil known only as 'the Warrior'. Their quest will bring them into contact with some familiar faces from the old game – most notably, the original four Vault Hunters: Roland, Lilith, Brick and Mordecai. They, along with some brand new characters, will help players defeat Jack, destroy the Warrior, and save Pandora.”
The game will let you play as one of four new vault hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos, and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack. You can make new friends, arm them with a wide host of weapons, and fight alongside them in a four-player co-op or split-screen on a quest for revenge and redemption across the undiscovered and an impulsive living planet.
“Borderlands 2” is set for a Sept. 18 release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
