Amazon's Official 'Send to Kindle' Chrome Browser Extension is Here

It seems Amazon will leave no stone unturned in its pursuit for a better market for Kindle. Per latest reports, Amazon has released a new Chrome browser plug-in that will reformat and send web content directly to Kindle apps and devices.

In the past, the company has launched similar apps for both Mac and PC. Even though several similar third-party options for delivering web content to Kindle are available, the Chrome extension is expected to be a more fitting and instinctive option for most users.

"You can download archived content from your Kindle Library on Kindle Fire, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle for Android, Kindle for iPad, Kindle for iPhone and Kindle for iPod Touch. Whispersync of notes, highlights, bookmarks along with last page read is available on your archived content (with the exception of PDFs)," the official Amazon page states.

Amazon is now set to reformat web pages and remove distractions from any given page. What's more users can also just send specific, highlighted text. However, like earlier, delivering via Wi-Fi is free but using Whispernet will incur a charge that ranges from $.15 to $.99 per megabyte. Although the browser extensions for Firefox and Safari are not available yet, they are apparently on the way.

Note that you will require the Chrome browser with version 17 or higher, at least 128 MB of RAM, and 100 MB of available disk space for the extension.
