Surface Pro 5 And Surface Phone Not Coming Despite Price Cuts On Predecessors

Even though fans are already very excited for the launch of the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Phone, Microsoft might not be ready to release these devices yet. The company has been putting the Surface Pro 4 and some of its Lumia phones on sale. However, this still doesn't prove that Microsoft is including the next-gen Surface tab and the rumored Surface Phone on its October 26 event.

Surface Pro 5 Postponed, Surface Pro 4 On Sale

The Surface Pro 4 got a huge $150 price cut a couple of days ago, Neowin reported. As intriguing as this may be, this doesn't indicate that the Surface Pro 5 is coming. Instead, what's making news lately is that Microsoft will revamp the Surface Pro 4. This means that instead of the Pro 5, fans will get an updated version of last year's Microsoft tablet. The said revamped Surface Pro is expected to be a part of Microsoft's hardware launch this month.

Surface Phone To Be Released Next Year, Lumia Phones On Sale

Just a few days ago, Microsoft has also put the Lumia 640 on sale, giving it a £99 price tag. It's worth noting that this isn't the first time the company has given its Lumia phones a discount. Microsoft UK has also dropped the prices for the premium Lumia devices, the 950 and 950 XL. According to GSM Arena, the company is selling the Lumia 950 with a £249 price tag and the Lumia 950 XL with a £339 price tag. Both of which also come with a Display Dock as a freebie.

Nevertheless, this also doesn't prove that the Surface Phone will be launched by Microsoft this October. However, this does say a lot about Microsoft's weakening Lumia line. This could also indicate that the Surface Phone is indeed coming, just not this year. According to reliable sources, the Surface Phone should be expected to show up next year or early 2018. As of now, it looks like Microsoft will focus on the laptop and PC division during its upcoming October event.
